On my weekly grocery shopping trip to Safeway I decided to browse the wine aisles. As you know, I normally do my wine shopping at Costco, but on Monday I thought I’d take a look at what was on sale. I found Butternut Chardonnay and decided to give it a try…simply based on the name and the price…$11.99 instead of $16.99. In fact, all wine is 30% off this week with your Club Card!

I decided to taste before reading up on the winemaker’s notes and was pleasantly surprised that I identified the flavors they claim to be in the wine. At times I don’t always taste exactly what the winemaker claims you will, but this one was spot on. It was oaky, buttery (butterscotch) and had a bit of a kick, which can be best described as spiced candy apple. I love a wine that is true to it’s flavors!

This was a great choice and even better considering I went in blindly in buying it.
